The species represents the large-body-size extreme within the genus, with frond dimensions approaching those of some Drynaria and small Platycerium species, its closest relatives within the subfamily. The vegetative body features one of the most robust rhizomes in the genus, 3 to 5 millimetres in diameter, densely clothed in large, dark brown, peltate scales. Pyrrosia princeps demands larger growing accommodations than most Pyrrosia owing to its substantial frond size. Mount on a large cork bark slab (at least 30 by 45 centimetres), a substantial tree-fern panel, or a large piece of driftwood, securing the robust rhizome with wire or mesh. The weight of multiple mature fronds requires a solidly anchored mount. Alternatively, grow in a large hanging basket lined with sphagnum and filled with coarse epiphyte mix, or in a wide, shallow terracotta container. The rhizome must remain on the surface. Pyrrosia princeps has not been formally assessed on the IUCN Red List. The species is not listed under CITES.
