Appropriate choices include driftwood (Malaysian, Mopani, spider wood, aged apple or beech branches), lava rock, dragon stone, Seiryu stone, basalt, slate, small river stones of irregular shape, natural cork panels, and stainless steel mesh for temporary propagation. Attach using cotton thread (biodegrades in four to six weeks, ideal for aquarium), nylon fishing line, or small dabs of cyanoacrylate gel on the rhizome underside. Mature specimens are 5 to 15 centimetres tall with narrow entire blades 1 to 2 centimetres wide, roughly one third to one half the stature of standard Java Fern, carried on a fine creeping rhizome with closely-spaced fronds that create a dense tufted habit. The cultivar is an obligate epiphyte that must be attached to driftwood, lava rock, cork or similar hardscape rather than buried in substrate.
